CAN YOU HEAR GOLDCREST SONG?

Can you hear me?

Goldcrest. Rob Brookes

One of the simplest bird survey going, publicised by British Birds (April edition):
John Tucker is considering how hearing loss affects field workers as we all get older.

It’s completely anonymous: just send your gender, age and whether or not you can hear Goldcrest song to:
goldcrest (at) lanius.org.uk or to Oakerley, Clun Road, Aston on Clun, Shropshire SY7 8EW

It’s an easy, finger-in-the-air survey, but might it self-select for people who can’t hear Goldcrests? Or those who subscribe to British Birds? What do you think?

  1. In response to article in BTO news I am 69 and have no difficulty hearing goldcrest song. I do have a birding friend who is 65, and hasn’t been able to hear crests for some years; he also relies on me to pick up grasshopper warbler reeling1
