The Gloucestershire Naturalists Society is a group that records and takes an interest in all taxa in the county, whether animal, vegetable or not-sure-what. Their Cirencester branch has an excellent programme of wildlife speakers during the winter months.
This branch is celebrating its 50th anniversary this Saturday (21st June) with a bioblitz at City Bank – not some financial institution, but a patch of land that was formerly an old nursery site near the River Churn at Watermoor. In the evening there’s a buffet and speaker (Michael Leach – wildlife photographer and author – “A Funny Way to Make a Living”).
The bioblitz starts at 2:30pm, so there’s time to come to the NCOS field meeting at Woodmancote, grab a pasty and nip down the road to the Old Nursery, Watermoor (SP030012) and see how many species we can find. Tickets for the evening are £10 available from D S-L, details in the GNS Diary.
